ASSIGNED WAVES

ELITE / OVERALL WAVE: must start at 8:15am

Any runners (male or female) looking to compete for the overall victory in the event must start in this wave, no exceptions. Runners who do not start in this wave, but complete the course with the fastest time of the day will be recognized in the results in the respective place, but will not receive an overall award.

"WHY DID I DO THIS" WAVE: optional | starts at 9:00am

Trail running can be intimidating, and we get that. So, because we've all been lost in the woods, scared we might get hurt and be alone out there or have a fear of trying new things, we created the "why did I do this wave", for those of you who want to try this out but are a bit unsure :). So, join meetup next to the official merchandise area by 8:30am and one of our crew members will answer your questions, give you some pre race confidence and even run alongside y'all as you tackle your first trail race! You'll start your race around 9:00am. You got this.

welcome to the

GOLDEN KETTLE VILLAGE

Where it's all happening | The GK Village is the main hub of activity at the event. It's where you pickup your packet, check in your gear, buy merchandise, sit around a fire, listen to music, check out local vendors, play yard games, enjoy tasty food, laugh with friends and have fun. Our shuttles will drop you off right at the entrance of the GK Village - from that point on, it's time to have fun and go run!

Please check back closer to the event date to see who's performing and what vendors will be hanging out.

PARKING / SHUTTLES

Step 1 | Park at Old World Wisconsin

Step 2 | Board one of our shuttles (5 min shuttle ride)

Step 3 | Arrive at Scuppernong Trail Head!

Due to limited parking and a need to keep the trailhead open and available for public use, we're utilizing off-site parking and using shuttles to transport runners to and from the Golden Kettle Village. There's plenty of parking at Old World Wisconsin. It's fun to ride the school bus and chat with other runners about the race! Remember our Golden Rule and have a great race / morning on the trails!

* Your athlete guide will contain parking diagrams and additional details on where and when to park.

MEDALS / GEAR / OVERALL

MADE FROM FALLEN TREES IN THE SOUTHERN UNIT

  FINISHER MEDALS

Finisher medals are made from fallen trees in the Southern Kettle Moraine Forrest.

All runners receive finisher medals!

This years medals look like trailhead signs carved out in wood with hanging / stacking ability. Each medal has a designated area for you to sharpie in race distance and finish time. These medals can all be connected by hooks and can hang under one another with as many medals as you’d like. Year after year, although the design will change, we will continue to allow the "stacking or hanging" feature with all the medals.

All finisher medals can also attach to a merchandise item we have for sale that is an official golden kettle medal holder / hanger. The year and name of the trail head is on the front of each medal. Runners can collect these year after year and continue to add to their “chain” of completed golden kettle trail races they’ve done.

  MERCHHANDISE

We have various mnerchandise items up for sale now! We will have a full run of different apparel and accessory items for sale at each of the four events.

  OVERALL AWARDS

Overall awards are given to the top 3 male and female finishers in the mid and long distance races. The top male and female finisher in the short distance races are also awarded with an overall award. These awards are handed out in the finishers chute as you finish.

Any runners (male or female) looking to compete for the overall victory in the event must start in this wave, no exceptions. Runners who do not start in this wave, but complete the course with the fastest time of the day will be recognized in the results in their respective place, but will not receive an overall award.

NO TRACE • NO WASTE

No Cups / No Plastic Water Bottles | At all our events, we're eliminating the use of cups at aid stations as well as plastic water bottles at the finish. We will have water fill up stations in the GK Village. PLEASE make sure you run with a handheld or pack to fill up with water or electrolytes while out on course.

Fallen trees = finisher medals | All our finisher medals are made from wood that has been harvested from trees in the Southern Kettle Moraine Forrest. We use hemp as a ribbon and have every intention to continue this awesome process to lower our footprint and have a unique award for finishers.

Clothing | The average American throws away 80lbs of clothing a year. If you're like me, you have SO many race shirts that just stack up and rarely get worn. We're changing that - no race shirt means a lower registration price and less waste from our event. Don't worry, we do have awesome merchandise and gear for sale during registration and at the event. If you like the designs / want to rep the series, you can!

Garbage Bins Everywhere | You'll notice we have A LOT of garbage and recycle bins throughout the village. Use them, and please help us keep the area clean. The goal is always to pack up and leave the space just like it was when we arrived - as if we were never there :). If we see you throwing trash on the ground around the village or on the trail, we will pull your bib and DQ you from the race.
