COURSE DETAILS

The courses you'll be running (with the exception of the joker mile) are wide, very runnable trails. You'll see a variety of grasses and pine needles on the ground during the loops. This section of the Kettle Moraine Forest feature thick mature forest and lakes. The long and mid distance loops each run you along Beaver Lake Marsh. The trails are all mowed prior to the event and are heavily marked with illuminated marking sticks based on the color of the loop you're running.

Long Loop THE PURPLE LOOP
5.1 Miles long
292ft of climbing
12 point value

LONG LOOP ELEVATION CHART
LONG LOOP GPS FILE

The longest and most scenic loop of the group, but definitely not the most challenging. Two big climbs get you going followed by 3.5 miles of fast running. There's one good climbs at the end of the route to keep you honest but at 12 points, it's worth the time and the small effort at the end. You'll run alongside the lake and at one point have water on both side of the trail before meeting up with the other loops and heading back into the village.

Mid Loop THE GREEN LOOP
4..0 Miles long
371ft of climbing
11 point value

MID LOOP ELEVATION CHART
MID LOOP GPS FILE

This loop is by far the most difficult loop we offer. There's a lot of up and a lot of down. The trail itself is not technical, but the hills will keep you honest. A few big climbs in the first half mile will warm you up. Then, the final 1.5 miles will kick your butt with two big climbs right before you get back to the village and claim your points. You'll have to work at it, but the point value matches the effort.

Short Loop THE RED LOOP
2.1 Miles long
217ft of climbing
4 point value

SHORT LOOP ELEVATION CHART
SHORT LOOP GPS FILE

This is the shortest and least technical loop of the race. The trail is wide with minimal trip hazards along the route. The majority of the climbing for this loop happens in the first half mile. Get through that and you're golden. It's a great chance to hammer out a fast loop and get some points.

Joker Mile THE BLACK LOOP
1.2 Miles long
223ft of climbing
? point value

JOKER MILE ELEVATION CHART
JOKER MILE GPS FILE

This out and back course is on extremely technical single track with lots of rocks, roots and hazards in the way. There's also a fair amount of climbing, only adding to the challenge. You'll receive a playing card half way through each lap you complete which determines the point value of your loop. Suits do not matter, only the card face or value.
   - Cards 2 through 10 are worth half their face value
   - Jack = 6 points
   - Queen = 7 points
   - King = 8 points
   - Ace = 9 points
   - Joker = 10 points

Course Markings
Running trails, especially at night can be intimidating and scary if you've never done it before. You can ease your mind knowing our courses are very heavily marked with bright, color coded LED lights that lead the way and are easy to be seen from far away. Each loop has a designated color attached to it. For example, the short loop if the red loop - therefore, simply follow the bright red LED lights. We've been producing multi-day races for some time now and have an excellent system in place that will make you feel safe and confident in your route.

The Joker Mile will be more lit up then other courses simply because of its technicality. You'll need to use extra caution on this loop and ensure your headlamp or handheld light is working well before taking off into the night.

Along with course markings, you'll find halloween decorations and lights scattered throughout the courses. Some things might move, or make random noises, others might not. Be careful at the candy bowl - it may be a real person, it may be a dummy... We know everyone runs a little faster when they're scared. Now, we won't scare you, but we will help you shave a few seconds off your average lap pace. All good fun :)

Aid Station
The start / finish area at the trailhead will have an aid station stocked with water, electrolyte fluids, sweet snacks, salty snacks and other various treats to help keep you moving along. We will also have coke and some home made goodies on hand as well. Feel free to email us here is you'd like to bring a treat to share.

Medical
Our medical team is on call all night in the case of an emergency. We have quick and easy access to the trails and will ave a 4x4 Ranger on site allowing us to get out on the trail quickly if needed. If you have a non threatening medical need, please notify other runners on your loop and continue to walk forward following the course markings. If you're unable to comfortably walk, stay put and we will be to you as quickly as possible. If you find yourself or any other runner in a series emergency situation, please call 911 and notify race staff immediately.

We will have basic medical supplies available in the Reaper Village for you to use. We're also proud to be partnering with
Synchrony Physical Therapy and have their services available throughout the event.

CREW & PACERS

Solo athletes are encouraged and welcome to come race the Reaper. The 14 hour time limit and 4 loop, open format makes for a unique opportunity to push the limit and see how many miles yo u can stack up in the allotted time. The looping format makes it easy and convenient for your crew and add in the music, food and other runners / teams and you've really got a special and unique opportunity to push for 50k, 50 miles or 60+ miles. All solo runners who run 60 miles or over will earn their Reaper Buckle along with the finishers award.

Solo Crew
All solo runners are encouraged to have at least one crew person with them for the duration of the race. You'll be given a designated area to setup camp for the night and your crew person will have very easy access to you in between loops. Crew members are able to join in on the games if they would like, although, winning will earn you or them no points. There are food trucks, beverages and entertainment in the Village, all of which your crew has access to. Please, only 2 crew per solo runner.

Solo Pacers
Given the looping nature and variety of distance available at this event, we do not allow pacers of any sort for solo runners.

EARNING POINTS

The goal of this event is to earn as many points as possible. Teams earn points by completing loops on the run course, winning games inside the village and participating in pre race challenges starting two weeks before the race.

Solo runners are scored based solely on miles completed - points can be earned but do not help with finishing placement. Solo runners who complete 60 miles or more earn a Reaper Buckle along with a finishers medal.

Completing Run Loops
One runner at a time is allowed on the course at all times. We have 3 loops that will be open at all times, each varying in distance, difficulty and point value. The Joker Mile will be open at random hours during the night for a total of 5 hours. Running the joker mile gives you the chance to earn double points.

Winning Games/ Challenges
The Reaper Village plays host to a large variety of tournament, games and challenges for you to participate in and earn additional points while another team member is running. We'll have things like 3 legged races, minute to win-it games, beer chug contest, hot potato, flip cup, etc...

All games are free of charge and will be going on all race long. We highly encourage participation in all the games / tournaments. Not only does it give you the opportunity to earn additional points but also makes the experience so much more fun. Let loose a little bit, it's all for a good cause!

A complete list of games and tournaments will be available 7 - 14 days before the event.
