COURSE INFORMATION

OPEN WATER SWIM: 0.25 miles / 0.402 km
We will be swimming in an open water non-motorized lake for all race categories. We will have a backup pool to swim in the chance we experience lightning before or during the swim portions of your race. Athletes will call out their race number to our timers on the beach in between each lap. Multiple floating (feeding stations) will be available to athletes allowing you to leave hydration and food for easy access during the swim.
Each athlete will be given a swim cap to wear during the swim.
In the evening hours, the swim buoys that line the course will be lit up for visibility. The timing tent will also be illuminated for sighting so our swimmers can see where they are headed. Each athlete will be given and required to wear a (swim buoy) that illuminates at night during the evening hours. It will also be required that each swimmer who is in the water overnight have a crew or support member present on the beach area to help keep eyes on their swimmer.
Lifeguards and volunteer kayakers will be present on the water throughout the entirety of the swim.
The water temperature at this time of year is typically a comfortable 70 - 72 degrees Fahrenheit. The lake water is mostly clear with a sandy bottom. You'll see fish and turtles under water during your swim. There are some weeds on the north side of the lake but our swim course stays South, closest to the beach, avoiding the weedy areas of the lake.

OPEN ROAD BIKE COURSE: 11.18 miles / 17.99 km (163ft elevation gain per lap)
The bike course is an open road, out and back course on newly paved roads. The course is designed to easy on the athlete with minimal hills and a very smooth road surface to ride on. At the end of the course, riders will make a 180 degree turn to make their way back to the race village. Volunteers will be present on course throughout the entirety of the event. An aid station / re-fuel station will be made available to you at the bike course turnaround (approximately 5.6 miles into the course). We will also have a restroom available at the bike turnaround.
All riders are required to have a white headlight and red rear light on their bike while riding in the evening hours.
The bike course is on open roads meaning you will encounter light vehicle traffic. Signage will be placed along the roadway atop notify motorists of the event.

RUN COURSE: 1.79 miles / 2.88 km (65ft elevation gain per lap)
The run course is designed specifically to allow your crew multiple access points to you during the run. The course stays inside the park at all times. There are multiple bathroom opportunities along the 1.79 mile course. The run course is somewhat exposed and is completely on paved surfaces. During each run loop your crew will have 3 easy points of access to you to help with fueling if needed.

OVERVIEW / VILLAGE AREA
Below is a basic diagram to help you understand the layout for the event inside the park. The pink arrows mark the swim course location, the green arrows mark a portion of the run course path and the blue arrows mark a portion of the bike course path. The village area is located at the RED LINE in the center of the diagram.
The race village is where athlete meetings take place, food is served, bikes can be racked, medical is accessed, an aid station will be present, bathrooms, massage, merchandise, timing tent / check in / results, etc... This is also the same area where you will have space to setup your pit for the duration of your event. Parking for yourself and your crew is also within 100 feet of this area.
There is a campground inside the park with full RV hookups (water, electricity, sewer). There are also hotels, restaurants, laundry, grocery, clinics, hospitals, fast food and more in nearby towns like Oconomowoc, Dousman and Waukesha. I would recommend renting an RV for your time here and grabbing one of the spots inside the campground for easy access for yourself and your crew.
You are allowed to setup a small sleeping tent at the village for your athlete to catch some sleep during breaks.
