The Village
Each athlete will be assigned a "pit area" inside our village. This pit area is where you will store belongings during the event and from where your crew will support you. The village is right off the main bike and run course and directly across from the beach - giving you easy access to your supplies / food and crew for all three disciplines. All food is served inside the Red Barn. It's the big red barn that's directly in the middle of the village. You can expect to find a charging station towards the front of the race village near the aid station. Our Aid station will have Hammer Nutrition products available to you as well as a variety of sweet and salty snacks to munch on. We do not provide phone cords but will have power strips available for you to plug in and charge your devices.
You may bring your own chairs, coolers, food, equipment, etc.. We ask that there are no open flames inside your pit area. Please have adequate weights to hold down the tent in case we experience any type of wind, which is common for this race. You may bring your own lights and "camping" equipment but jeep in mind space is tight and quite limited. You're not here to sleep - you're here to race!
Quiet hours in the village begin at 5pm. We will have music playing during the day.
Portable Restrooms are available inside the village area.Â

Night Hours:
Lights are required on the run and bike between the hours of 7:00pm and 7:00am. On the run, a headlamp or handheld flashlight must be worn at all times during the night hours. On the bike, a white headlight AND a red rear light are required at all times during the night hours. We will have a charging station available inside the village. However, we do Highly recommend you charge all your head and tail lights prior to arriving to the race site.Â
RACE FORMAT
The goal of this event is to log as many complete triathlons, duathlons, or single laps (for run, swim or bike only events) in the allotted time. You may choose to race as a solo athlete or as a relay team. Choose from either a 24 hour or 36 hour race.
You and or your team will be given a "pit area" inside the Village where you setup camp for the duration of the event. This is where you sleep, eat, store your gear, etc.. - your home away from home.
You are not required to change disciplines in between each leg of the event. For example, you may bike 10 laps in a row, then swim 5 and then run 8. You can complete laps of any discipline in any order. Teams are not required to change athletes after each leg. For example, team member A can run 5 loops in a row, then bike 3 before handing off to team member B. However, teams may only have one athlete circulating the course at a time and must switch between team members inside the transition area.
Course DetailS
Swim Course:Â 0.25 mile open water loop
The swim takes place in a beautiful bay looking south from Gislason Beach. The water here is incredible - it's crystal clear, generally comfortable and usually sees a water temp of around 65 - 72 degrees. The area you will be swimming is considered a shallow body of water with water depths no greater than 8 to 9 feet across the swim course.

Bike Course:Â 9.91 mile open road loop
The bike segment boasts some butter smooth roads, awesome sights and beautiful views as you ride around the southeast side of Washington Island. Although the course is referred to as a "fast course" it is not flat. In fact, there are two moderate climbs on the course. Please ride with caution. It is HIGHLY recommended you practice some night riding before making your way up to the event. All 36 Hour athletes are REQUIRED to begin and complete one loop of the bike course to begin the event unless you are race the 36hr run or swim.
Run Course:Â 2.00Â mile out & back
The run is on paved roads and takes you alongside the shore of Lake Michigan with plenty of shade but also a few sections of exposure to sun. The course is flat and super fast!
